Slipped into a long-forgotten lace dress this morning and my granddaughter showered me with compliments. Initially planned to spend yesterday alone, but her longing eyes and wish to wear a dress too got the best of me. Picked her up early from school in the afternoon, bought her a dress, and enjoyed tea at a century-old cafe. Now, she even helps me choose lipstick shades and takes my photos.
Sometimes, I fumble a bit with operating toys or tying her hair nicely. There are trials and errors, but when my granddaughter is happy, I'm over the moon.

이번 아침에는 옷장 속에서 잠자고 있던 레이스 원피스를 꺼내 입었는데, 손녀가 그 옷이 너무 예쁘다며 칭찬을 아끼지 않았다. 원래는 어제 하루를 혼자 보내려 했지만, 손녀의 '나도 드레스 입고 싶다'는 말과 그 눈빛이 계속 마음에 걸렸다. 그래서 오후에는 평소보다 일찍 학교에서 손녀를 데리고 와서 옷도 사주고, 100년 된 카페에서 차를 마셨다. 이제 손녀는 나를 위해 립스틱 색깔도 골라주고, 사진도 찍어준다.
할머니로서 가끔 장난감 작동법이나 머리를 예쁘게 묶는 법에 대해 약간 헤매는 순간들이 있지만, 몇 번의 시행착오를 겪어도 손녀가 만족하면 이 할머니는 너무 행복하다. 그래서 나는 '헤매는 할머니'라는 별명을 얻었다.
